How do we accelerate a more strategic and coordinated campaign to engage a broader cross-section of Australians to give internationally? 🌍
With so much currently at stake, this was the question at the heart of our latest Global Development Dialogue with the Australian Council for International Development, held last night on the eve of the Philanthropy Australia Conference 2026.
Now in its sixth session, the Global Development Dialogue brings together senior leaders from across Australia for structured, action-oriented conversations on critical issues in international development. It creates space for leaders to build collaborative, cross-sector relationships that can support better development outcomes.
With an introduction from Roslyn Dundas and facilitation by Simon Lewis, the session featured four fantastic speakers:
👉 Steffi Chang CFRE MFIA, Director of Philanthropic Partnerships, World Vision Australia.
👉 Andrew Binns, CEO, Australian Communities Foundation.
👉 Dr Genevieve Nelson, CEO, KTF (Kokoda Track Foundation).
👉 Marijke Frantzen, CEO, Kyeema Foundation.
Each speaker offered a short provocation on why Australian philanthropies are not yet giving more internationally, why they should, and what it will take to unlock greater global giving.
The session then turned to the room, with participants workshopping an “Imagine if…” framework to explore how the sector might:
🌍 Develop shared approaches to data, impact measurement and storytelling.
🌍 Strengthen trust and accountability.
🌍 Demystify the complexity and language of international development.
🌍 Foster greater collaboration between those who fund development and those who deliver it.
