AIDN’s Insight Tours give engaged funders an in-depth insight into the work and operating context of a variety of NGOs working in different sectors, with a particular focus on locally-led organisations. AIDN’s Insight Tours align with AIDN’s mission to foster “more” and “better” giving to international causes. At the end of February 2025, AIDN led twelve guests through Cambodia’s unique aid and development landscape.

👉 The Insight Tour kicked off on Day 1 with two inspiring site visits to Cambodian Children’s Fund and Friends-International in Phnom Penh.

👉 That evening also saw the unique opportunity to meet with local leaders from Phnom Penh based NGOs including: Helen Keller Intl, ActionAid, Harpswell, Peace Bridges Organisation, Gender and Development for Cambodia, Cufa and MopoTyso.

👉 On Day 2, the group was excited to undertake two further site visits to Teach For Cambodia and Afesip Cambodia, before heading to Sihanoukville in anticipation of our M’Lop Tapang visit on Day 3.

👉 That evening, the group was also generously welcomed by the Australian Embassy in Phnom Penh to learn more about Australia’s development efforts in Cambodia.

👉 Day 4 saw the group undertake a long drive to Kratie, where they had an outstanding visit to Chenla Children’s Healthcare, hosted by Bill Housworth and Chinda Long.

👉 That afternoon, the group also had the truly unique opportunity to travel by boat up the Mekong river to visit the team at Northern Rural development – a local partner of Oxfam.

👉 The cross-country journey continued on Day 5, with the group travelling from Kratie to Siem Reap to connect with Siem Reap based organisations, including the Cambodia Rural Students Trust, This Life Cambodia and Plan International.

👉 Day 6 was a huge but outstanding day, with the group undertaking four inspiring site visits to: Cambodia School Learning Gardens, PEPY Empowering Youth, Child’s Dream, and Angkor Hospital for Children.

👉 Day 7 saw the group continue their travels across Cambodia, driving from Siem Reap to Kralanh for a warm welcome and site visit at SeeBeyondBorders. The group also had the privilege of visiting the Cambodian Children’s Trust before concluding the day with a dinner hosted by Friends-International.

👉 The Insight Tour ended the next morning with a visit to Cambodia’s incredible Angkor Wat temples.
